Rob began composing music whilst studying at Leeds College of Music in the early nineties. He now concentrates on writing music for solo woodwind instruments and saxophone ensembles.  He uses his vast teaching experience to make compositions accessible to a wide range of abilities.

Rob has had commissions from the Dyce Music Academy Jazz Ensemble (Blues/Contemporary/Latin styles), as well as the Edinburgh Schools Wind Ensemble.  Jazz influences can be heard throughout his music and he has also written many Latin inspired pieces. His compositions all have a contemporary feel, prioritising good melodies with a rich harmonic structure.
